The Chronicles
celebrate the opening of AT WORLD'S END, the third installment of
Pirates of the Caribbean with this tribute to priate lovers everywhere
The Captain's daughter © Jesse Chisholm, Joe Chisholm
Warm Caribbean winds filled up our sails of black - We stole what
we could - gave em' nothin' back
Pirates were we all, upon the Briney Deep - Pillaged the seven seas
for all that we could reap
Our ship a mighty vessel- surroundings picturesque - Poetic juxtaposition
to our crew so grotesque
Lived the Corsairs code, unyielding and crude - Anyone who broke
it - keel-hauled and fish food
My heart was not content to an intolerable degree
For I loved the Cap'ns daughter - fairest maiden of the sea
That's the reason why I am a Brethren of the Coast - Other mates
were lustful went to the whipping post
The captain a fearsome tyrant - scurvy dog at his best - Cutlass
on his side, musket at his breast
In a seeming lapse of reason, I begged his daughter's hand - Faced
the rum runners wrath - prepared to take a stand
Yo-ho-ho howled captain with a mighty laugh - A chorus of jeers
followed from his motley staff
My heart was not content to an intolerable degree - For I loved
the Cap'ns daughter - fairest maiden of the sea
Winds filled up our sails; her smile filled me with glee - For I
loved the Cap'ns daughter - fairest maiden of the sea
Cap'n said:
"I'll have your lights and liver if that be the case - I'll
nare give up my daughter. Knave, know your place
Or walk the plank ye will - if for five year you tread water - Upon
my return you can then wed my daughter"
"I love him, too!" cried the maiden, "Poppa Don't
be cruel" - "Blimey," said the Captain "Then
he'll face me in a duel"
Sabres crossed in combat; to wed that's what it took - That's why
I now live with a peg leg and a hook
My heart was not content to an intolerable degree
For I loved the Cap'ns daughter - fairest maiden of the sea
Winds filled up our sails; her smile filled me with glee
For I loved the Cap'ns daughter - fairest maiden of the sea
