On Fire

V1
No one would begrudge this
man
The neglect of his daily
affairs
As his house was in
perdition’s flames
Goodbye memories and wares
This man was hauntingly calm
As he stared at his life’s
demise
A sharp contrast -
premonition’s chill
Saw my reflection in his eyes
A house is on fire, a house
is on fire
A win fall for the 6 o’clock
news
A house is on fire, a house
is on fire
To a chorus of primordial
ooohs
V2
Compassion and concern
In most of the passers by
Oh my God how did it happen
What was lost, did somebody
die
The heretics indulged themselves
Are victim and perpetrator the
same
The horror did not shock them
They were enchanted by the
flames
A house is on fire, a house
is on fire
A win fall for the 6 o’clock
news
A house is on fire, a house
is on fire
To a chorus of primordial
ooohs
V3
I was ashamed to let this
happen
Though apathy seemed wide
spread
Someone tapped me on the
shoulder
And this is what they said
Tragic it is, and you seem
sincere
Try as you may, it’s not what
it appears
His house has been burning
for many a year
His house has been burning
for many a year
Bridge
Did he have it coming or had
the man been hexed?
Was it tragedy’s choice and
could I be next
A house is on fire, a house
is on fire
Win fall for the 6 o’clock
news
A house is on fire, a house
is on fire
To a chorus of primordial
ooohs
